How Calling a Contractor Changed My Life

This might sound completely crazy, but the most important call I ever may was to a construction contractor. I can remember the day as if it were yesterday. I had decided to rebuild parts of my home. This involved removing part of the roof, knocking down a brick wall and removing some electrical wires and water pipes. I started out just fine but then I started to have problems. I realised I was in out of my depth and decided to call an expert. The contractor who came around was great and he quickly fixed up the mess I had made. Since that day, I have had a keen interested in construction contractors. I hope you like this blog.

Hardwood Flooring: A Sustainable Choice For Your Custom Home Build

The great thing about getting the chance to construct a custom home is that you have complete control over the supplies that will be used. In this day and age where the effects of climate change are a stark reminder of the carbon footprint of humans, you may be thinking of utilising eco-friendly materials so that your house does not harm the planet. Hardwood flooring supplies are a great choice. When the trees are harvested responsibly, hardwood flooring supplies are a great addition to your eco-conscious home! Below are just three reasons that make hardwood flooring a sustainable choice for your custom home build.

Manufacturing of hardwood flooring supplies is energy efficient

When compared to a majority of other materials that are utilised as flooring supplies, from vinyl to ceramic tiles, the manufacture of hardwood supplies is considerably less harmful to the environment. Firstly, hardwood does not require much processing. Since the grain of the timber is already visually appealing, the timber does not go through rigorous processing to make it attractive, which means less energy is spent in the manufacture of these materials. Secondly, the manufacture of hardwood flooring supplies does not create as much waste as the manufacture of other synthetic supplies. Hence, there is minimal risk of pollution to the environment.

Harvesting of hardwood flooring supplies is sustainable

The second reason why hardwood is an eco-friendly option for your new home is that this material is sourced sustainably. Carpet, undeniably, is a popular flooring solution for Australian households. However, the manufacture of synthetic carpet fibres entails the use of petroleum-based materials and these emit toxic gases into the environment. Not to mention that using artificial materials as flooring solutions means putting the ozone layer in further jeopardy as the creation of these materials is not ecologically friendly. Responsible forest management, on the other hand, ensures that hardwood remains a renewable material. This renewability is what makes hardwood flooring supplies a sustainable option for any household.

Integration of hardwood flooring supplies translates into clean air

One of the immediate benefits that you will enjoy when you choose hardwood flooring supplies is enhanced indoor air quality. As mentioned above, carpet is a popular flooring option. But electing to install carpeting in your home increases the risk of poor air quality as the fibres can harbour dirt, dust mites and even mould! Hardwood flooring, on the other hand, is non-porous and smooth, so it does not absorb pollutants like carpet would.
