How Calling a Contractor Changed My Life

This might sound completely crazy, but the most important call I ever may was to a construction contractor. I can remember the day as if it were yesterday. I had decided to rebuild parts of my home. This involved removing part of the roof, knocking down a brick wall and removing some electrical wires and water pipes. I started out just fine but then I started to have problems. I realised I was in out of my depth and decided to call an expert. The contractor who came around was great and he quickly fixed up the mess I had made. Since that day, I have had a keen interested in construction contractors. I hope you like this blog.

2 Beautiful And Edgy Splashbacks For A Contemporary Kitchen

If you're planning a remodelling project for your kitchen, then you've no doubt put a lot of time and thought into the overall look that you'd like to achieve. If you, like many other Australian homeowners, are looking for a contemporary, urban and edgy look, then you'll find many options available on today's market.

One important feature in a kitchen that contributes to the overall design is the choice of splashback. Although a slightly smaller feature than the benchtop or cabinetry, your splashback still has a significant impact on your kitchen's aesthetics. Here are two modern and attractive splashback ideas that you might like to consider for your new, contemporary kitchen.

1. Glass splashbacks

Glass splashbacks are an increasingly popular choice for use in kitchens. They're light, bright and easy to install, and they add a modern yet welcoming feel to the space. They're a particularly good choice for small kitchens or kitchens that receive minimal natural light because the glass surface helps reflect light around the room.

Glass splashbacks also provide you with plenty of creative freedom to give your kitchen a unique and personal touch. You can choose any colour of paint to use on the wall behind the splashback, injecting your tastes and some bold hues into the kitchen. For a truly unique look, you can use a decorative wallpaper or a photographic print as a backdrop for the splashback.

2. Metal splashbacks

Metal splashbacks are another popular and edgy option for a modern kitchen. They add a subtle industrial feel to the kitchen and are highly practical, easy to clean and very durable. Metallic products are featuring heavily in current interior design looks, so they'll also give your kitchen a fashionable and on-trend feel.

Metal splashbacks also provide you with a generous array of colours and styles to choose from. Shiny and hard-wearing stainless steel is great for a kitchen that has the look and feel of a commercial cooking space. Copper or brass will create a warmer and softer look, with the added bonus of a stunning patina that will develop as the metal ages and is exposed to moisture and wear and tear.

To find out more about both glass and metal splashback options, contact your local kitchen splashback contractor. They can help you to make a final decision on materials, supply the splashback material of your choice and install it professionally in your new kitchen.
